Overview: This is a STRENGTH book, not a book on bodybuilding/body sculpting (hence the name “Starting Strength”. I can’t emphasize enough you need to know what you are training for before you commit to a book purchase and exercise routine. This book is focuses on strength and nothing else, hypertrophy may be a side of affect of strength but is not the goal, nor is the goal to produce shapely well defined muscles and washboard abs. This book is written by a power lifter (Rippetoe) for strength and power and that’s it.
The book easy to read; is full of illustrations, and flows together very nice. Rippetoe drops in some dry humor to keep it fresh.

4 Stars Got for my wife.. she loves it
Got this video for my wife (yes, I am that guy, but she keeps telling me she wants to get in shape since we just had our first child). Anyways, after her first go with the video, she was in some serious pain, which essentially means it works good. She was very psyched and was looking forward to round 2. So thumbs up from me.
5 Stars Good start although is at an intermediate level…..
I got this video for my wife who gave birth recently. Since she was pregnant she is complaining about being fat so I was happy to find this DVD.
The exercise intervals are 1 minute long and come in 2 types: low impact and high impact. Although if you didn’t worked out recently or after surgery/pregnancy might be dificult to get into it, sticking to the low impact version and making some modification as another reviewer noted will help you through it.

Since we are taking it easy, I cannot comment on the number of days to see the result but I will re-write the review after we get a better

5 Stars Great reference book in exercise posture to avoid lesions
Great book for the price. Comprehensive material on exercise position and posture to avoid lesions. After reading several books on correct exercise posture, I finally found one that does a good job at describing every detail in every exercise.

For instance, this book has dedicated 40 pages for text, details, variations and images of the squats exercise alone. You probably wouldn’t be able to get this kind and amount of information from you average personal trainer – only from the best. But, even tough, it would not be with this price tag.
